The outbreak of COVID-19 and the lock down of the country has disrupted every aspect of our daily lives, including how we work, how we socialize, and even how we educate. All across Qatar, students must now stay home and continue their education remotely. And regardless of how you refer to this practice (homeschooling, distance learning, remote learning, virtual classrooms etc.), the inherent challenges remain the same. You need to set up your home with the right equipment for studies.

That’s where we come in. We strive to support our customers, in good times and bad, during the highs and especially the lows. That’s why now, more than ever, we want you to know that we are here to help, whether you need assistance finding the right tool for a task or you’re looking for the best ways to outfit your newly installed virtual classroom. No matter the need or challenge, our top priority is always you, the customer.

So, with that in mind, let’s talk strategy for homeschooling.

Virtual Classroom

Designating the correct area for your home classroom is a critical first step. After all, even if you have the best equipment in the world, it won’t help if your home classroom isn’t conducive to learning.

What does the “correct” home classroom look like? Well, that depends. Like adults, different students thrive in different environments. Some handle distractions better than others, some are more sociable, some get bored when isolated, and so on. In general, you want to try for an area that minimizes distractions, but more important than that, you want a home classroom that makes your student feel comfortable and allows them to do their best work.

Homeschooling Equipment

Once you’ve established where your virtual classroom is going to be, you’ll want to make a list of the equipment your student is going to need to begin their homeschooling. Hopefully, your student’s school or education provider has been in contact with you regarding expectations and necessary equipment. If they haven’t, consider this list of common home classroom equipment:

·     Laptops or Desktop Computers

·     Computer Monitors

·     STEM Education Tools

·     Home School Printers

·     Networking Equipment

·     Headphones & Earphones

·     Tables & Chairs

Do I Need New Homeschooling Equipment?

After you’ve made an equipment list for your virtual classroom, do a quick inventory to see what you already own. With any luck, you already own most, if not all, of the items on your list. A question you might ask after taking inventory is whether or not you need to buy new equipment.

The honest answer is: maybe.

Although we are all dealing with the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic, each of our home situations is unique. That being the case, you should take care to evaluate each piece of homeschooling and distance-learning equipment to decide whether or not it will suffice for the duration of your student’s homeschooling. One way to do this is to consider what expectations will be placed on your student.

Are they expected to always be online and reachable by their teachers? Do they need to participate in virtual classrooms or teleconference in for attendance? What about assignments? Are they expected to have constant access to the Internet, web portals, and so on?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section]
